Stuart Scott

Qualifications: BSocSci Honours, LLB (UKZN), LLM (Cambridge), PG Certificate in Advanced Company Law (Wits)

Stuart was admitted to the Johannesburg Bar in 2016 after completing pupillage with Steven Budlender. Stuart holds an LLM degree focussing on constitutional law and competition law from the University of Cambridge. Before joining the Bar, Stuart served as a law clerk to Justice Khampepe at the Constitutional Court, and completed articles at Webber Wentzel. He was retained in Dario Milo’s team specialising in media and tax litigation. Stuart was a researcher for the Cambridge University Pro Bono Project and is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has published articles in various law journals as well as the chapter on international law (with Max du Plessis SC) in Public Interest Litigation in South Africa (Juta, 2018).

Stuart has a general commercial practice with a particular focus on legal privilege, competition law, administrative and regulatory law, company law, telecommunications, media and defamation, PAIA, international law, and the intersection of constitutional law and private law.
